Obituary:

CUNINGHAM Died, Oct. 13th, 1888, in Richfield township, Henry county, O., Clara, eldest daughter of Harrison and Mollie Cuningham, aged 17 years, 2 months and 26 days, of diphtheria and typhoid fever complicated; her sickness was of short duration. Her sister Dora preceded her, May 18th, 1887, aged 9 years, like her sister Clara, her suffering was but few days. The bereaved family have our deepest sympathy in this their sad bereavement, may the Lord comfort them. Clara was a mild and gentle girl, and bid fair for a happy future. Just In the bloom of life she was called away, none knew her but to love her. We would say to her young friends be prepared, 'for the Master calleth.' She leaves father, mother, one sister and two brothers and a large concourse of friends to mourn her loss Funeral services by Rev. Fisher of the U. B. church. Text, Matthew, 9 chapter, 21 verse, 'For the maid is not dead but sleepeth.'

When blooming youth is snatched away
By death's resistless hand,
Our hearts tho mournful tribute ray,
Which pity must demand.

While pity prompts, the rising sigh
O may this truth impart,
With awful power "I too moat die,”
Sink deep in every heart.

The voice of this alarming scene,
May every heart obey;
Not be the heavenly warning vain,
Which calls to watch and pray.

Oh let us fly, to Jesus fly,
Whose powerful arms can save;
Then shall our hopes ascend on high,
And triumph o'er the grave.

L. A. C.
