Obituary: CREAGER - On the morning of the 11th of February, 1883, in Monroe tp., Henry Co., O., Benjamin T., son of Gideon Creager, Esq., of Harrison tp., this county.
He was loading logs upon a sled in company with a hired man one day of the past week. One of the logs was about to fall from the sled when Mr. Creager started to catch it. It being an icy time, he fell across a pole some six inches in diameter, the log from the sled fell upon him, crushing him badly. The hired man made an effort and rolled the log from his body on his limbs, then took horses and drew it off. He then took the wounded man upon his back and carried him near 60 rods to a house. His suffering was beyond that which pen can describe, yet he endured it with patience. His age was 38 years, 4 months and 18 days. A loving wife and four children mourn the loss of a kind and tender husband and father. The community feel that there is a large vacancy made by the removal of one who filled so large a place among them, but endeavor to bow to the mandate of that strange providence, which to us dark and incomprehensible, is yet based on infinite goodness and tender mercy. An immense number of persons gathered at the home of the deceased and sadly followed to the brick church in Harrison tp., where the writer for a short time spoke from Job 9th chapter, 12th verse, after which an opportunity was given to once more look upon the loved form of one now cold in death, and while tears were thickly falling he was laid in the silent grave.
