Obituary: Sad Accident. On last Thursday, Sylvester Cramer, son of John Cramer, aged about 18 years, living in Freedom township, met with an accident from the effects of which he died Monday morning at 6:30 o'clock. A load of hay was taken into the barn and was being unloaded with a hay fork. The young man was driving the horse which was hitched to it and in starting up it was found to be too big a fork full for the horse to raise from the wagon. Young Cramer was directly behind the animal urging it on when the horse gave a sudden plunge breaking a tug, the whiffletree flying back with lightening rapidity struck him in the abdomen, knocking him down and rendering him unconscious. Dr. Harrison was immediately called who done all that medical skill could do to alleviate his sufferings but of no avail, and he continued to grow worse until the cold hand of death came to his relief. Sylvester was a young man of extraordinary good habits and was beloved by all who knew him, and his sad and sudden death casts a gloom over the entire community in which he resided. |
