Obituary: Man Killed at Defiance. The following dispatch gives the particulars of anaccident which occurred at Defiance Saturday: Sam Corn, a day laborer on a State boat, boarded a west bound passenger train on the Wabash last night at 7:30 to ride to the Baltimore and Ohio crossing, near where he lived. It is supposed he thought it was not going to stop, for just after passing the coal-chutes he jumped from the train, striking an embankment, falling back under the cars, which literally crushed his head, death being instantaneous. Corn was a hard-drlnking man, and was drunk at the time of the accident. He leaves a wife and five children, aged from nine months to eight years, in needycircumstances. |
