Obituary:

In Memoriam.

Mrs. Margaret Chapman, consort of A. A. Chapman, died of dysentery at Ridgeville Corners, O., Sept. 16th, 1886, aged 71 years, 11 months and 16 days. Mrs. Chapman's maiden name was Taylor, and was born in Newfield, Tompkins Co., N. Y., Oct. 2d, 1814; when she was fifteen years of age she came with her parents to the wilderness of the Western Reserve, settling in Eaton, Lorain county, O. On Sept. 30th, 1832, she was united in marriage to Alonza A. Chapman who re sided in the same locality, with whom she lived in the happiest of conjugal relations for fifty-four years. She came with her husband to Henry county in 1866, since which time she has been a resident of Ridgeville.

Mrs. Chapman was a woman of practical purity, having been a follower of the Divine Master for fifty-one years, nearly all of which time she was connected with the Methodist Episcopal church. Although of a retiring disposition those who knew her best all unite in praising her virtues. As a wife she was one of the most perfect or models, as a mother she was ever devoted to the best interests of her children, and as a neighbor she was kind and obliging. She was the mother of eight children, five of whom are still living and were permitted to be present at the closing scene. The funeral services were performed under the direction of Rev. Nathan Warden, and her remains deposited in Locust Grove Cemetery.
