Obituary: BURNSES - Died at the residence of her son in Henry county, Ohio, Mrs. Margaret Burnses, aged 83 years and 10 months. By request of the Church of God at the Morey appointment, the following sketch of mother Burnses was furnished by her son, John Burnses. . Grandmother Burnses' maiden name was Margaret Listen. She was born April 7th, 1800; in the State of Maryland, where her parents resided till she was about eight years old, when her parents moved to Highland county, O., where she was brought up under the influence of pious parents. At the age of ten years she united with the Methodist church, where she lived an exemplary life till after the death of her father, when she moved with her brother-in-law and family to Blanchester, Clinton county, Ohio, in 1828, where she became acquainted with a young man by the name of John Burnses, to whom she was united in matrimony in the year 1830. Soon after their marriage they both united with the United Brethren Church at the old second creek chapel, where they then resided. Her husband was soon afterwards elected by the class as their leader, where he faithfully discharged his duty as a leader of the flock for about twenty-four years. During this period of time they had ten children, four of whom are yet living. About the year 1854 they moved to Henry county, O., where they united with the Christian Church, where they lived a quiet and Peaceable life till the heath of her husband in the year 1868. In the year 1869 she became dissatisfied with being sprinkled and was baptized by immersion in June, 1869, by Rev. E. Rex, of the U. B. Church. Mother Burnses' funeral took place at the sand ridge bethel in Henry county, Ohio, February 6th, 1884, to a large and attentive congregation.
