Obituary: OBITUARY- - DIED in Liberty, Ohio, after an illness of two weeks, George Crawford, aged 70 years, 6 months and 7 days. Deceased was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Feb. 13, 1813, came with his parents to Ohio in early childhood. June 6th, 1837, he was married to Miss Jane McCann. In 184l he united with the Owl Creek Baptist Church in Knox Co., this State. In April, 1853, he removed with his family to Henry county, where for thirty years he has been well and favorably known as an industrious, upright and eminently worthy citizen. He has served the county in an official capacity for several years in a manner highly creditable to himself, and with a fidelity to principle, and the welfare of the public, that is too seldom witnessed in the conduct of our public servants. He was emphatically an earnest man, regarding life as a boon to mankind to be improved with the utmost diligence. Mr. Crawford possessed a mental organism exceeding well balanced, and a strength and vigor of intellect far above the average of men. Agriculture was his chosen pursuit. From nature's variegated garden both parents and children enriched their minds with sentiments of love and loyalty to Him who invites us all to consider the lilies of the field. A beneficent providence smiled upon their united efforts to secure a worldly competency for their comfort and education of their children. Both husband and wife were passionately devoted to their family and home. But as all things earthly, change holds a sovereign control, so this happy and united family was not exempt. Thick clouds gathered over their home. In 1805 Mr. C. was called in the providence of God to bury his faithful and beloved wife and mother of his children. Still the cup of his affliction was not yet full. From this time on his physical health continued to decline until about 1808, when he was prostrated with what is known to medical science as peripheral paralysis, by which he was deprived of the use of his lower limbs and consequently the power of locomotion. Yet he was resigned and cheerful under the chastening hand of the heavenly father. The children soon married and settled in their own homes. Mr. C, after having lived single seven years, obtained in marriage the hand of Mrs. Rebecca Brown, with whom he very happily passed the balance of his earthly pilgrimage, and has entered we trust, upon the enjoyment of that rest prepared for the people of God. He leaves to mourn an enfeebled wife, a son and two daughters. A very large circle of friends and acquaintances were in attendance at the funeral. The services were conducted by the writer, improved from the passage of Scripture found in John 11-26, first clause of the verse. And now as God has again removed from among us a worthy and respected citizen, a tried and valued friend and an exemplary Christian man, let us be admonished, "for this I say unto you, brethren, the time is short."
