Obituary: Brubaker. Mary Elizabeth Brubaker, daughter of George and Martha McCaughey, was born in Columbianna county, O., Aug. 23rd, 1846; died Oct. 21st, 1889, of typhoid fever at Florida, O.; aged 42 years, 1 mo. and 28 days. She was united in marriage to F. M. Brubaker, April 16, 1868, to these parents was born three children, one child died in infancy, while two daughters are still living and are both lying seriously ill with the same fever. Sister Brubaker was a member of the M. E. Church at Florida for over 17 years; she having been a successful school teacher in her earlier days and later one of the brightest correspondents to our county papers from Florida; she was also secretary ot the Women's Home Missionary Society which place she filled so nobly, done all she could in that direction, and now that it has pleased the Creator and preserver of all things to remove from our presence our beloved sister and companion, and as we view with sadness the vacant seat and pay homage to the last resting place of our beloved companion, deeply feeling the hand of affliction, yet humbly bowing to the will of Him who doeth all things well, we can no more hear her cheerful voice nor join with her in merry laugh as we did in days gone by. How well we remember but a few summers ago when the flowers budded and blossomed and sent their fragrance to perfume the balmy mornings of May that Mollie's ckeeks like the rose then fresh and promising to bloom for many summers; but alas, as the wintry winds blew over the barren mountains her cheeks as the rose faded away to bloom in the city of the living God, and as we meet together Sabbath after Sabbath and see the vacant seat that she once filled it calls to memory the many pleasant hours we had enjoyed together in the Sabbath School, sanctuary and social circles; we feel we have lost a true friend and a kind neighbor, we can only hope the vacant chair may be filled by one as worthy. Her funeral took place at the M. E. Church at Florida, the Rev. Barker, preacher in charge, officiating from the scripture found in Numbers, 23d chapter and part of the tenth verse: Let me die the death of the righteous and let my last end be like His." After which the procession formed with many relatives and friends and conveyed the remains to the Brey cemetery two miles north east from Florida, and may her remains rest in hope of a glorious resurrection. The bereaved husband and two loving daughters, though at the point of death, are with us still and deserve the sympathy and prayers of the church. The family home has now been wrecked and broken but may be rebuilt in heaven; may the Lord sustain the husband in this sad hour of trial and restore the ones that are so ill, that at last they may make an unbroken family beyond in the sweet by and by. Molley has gone from this world of care and woe, J. W. |
