Obituary: Gone to His Long Rest. It Is with feelings of profound regret that we are called upon this week to record the death of Dr. Edward S. Blair, one of our oldest and best known citizens. Dr. Blair had for some months been suffering from disease of the lungs and stomach, and last fall, with the expectation of being benefited, visited the far west, but he was compelled to return before he was there many months, weaker and more broken than when be left. He was home but a short time before he took to his bed and gradually declined until death relieved him from all earthly suffering on Sabbath evening last. In the death of Dr. Blair Napoleon has lost one of its most valued citizens, and his removal will be most keenly felt. He was kind and affectionate and beloved by all for his honesty and uprightness and fair dealing with his fellow man. He was in the 63d year of his age, leaving a wife and four children to mourn his departure, together with a large circle of relatives and friends. His funeral took place yesterday from the family residence on Clinton street, and was largely attended. Dr. Blair was born at Madison, O., June 6, 1822, and moved to this part of Ohio, in 1849, locating at Providence, Lucas county, where be married his companion who now mourns the loss of an affectionate husband, and from whence he removed to Napoleon. He was a graduate of Willoughby (N. Y.) Medical College, and was a successful physician until he gave up his practice in 1871 to enter the banking business in this place, from which he retired in 1883, commanding the respect and confidence of all.
