Mrs. Jennie Bittikofer wife of John Bittikofer and a resident of Monroe township gave birth to a child two weeks since. Last Sunday feeling perfectly well she attempted a visit, in company with her husband, to his parents who lived a quarter of a mile distant. While there she partook of a little ice cream. The result was fatal. At once becoming sick she was conveyed home where rapidly growing worse she died the following day. The disease of which she died was evidently a form of peritonitis and her suffering was of the most intense nature.
