Obituary: A Former Resident Dead The following is taken from the North Amherst Argus: Mrs. Eliza Belden passed away at the home of her son, Rollin Belden, North Amherst, O. March 10th, 1894, aged eighty-three years. Her last illness has been of three months duration, and during that time she has been a great sufferer. Her son and his estimable wife have been constant in their attendance of her day and night, doing all in their power to alleviate her pain. Mrs. P. B. Saur, of Chicago, has given much of her time at the bedside of her mother. Mrs. Belden was born in Delhi, New York, and reared in Colebrook, Conn. She was married at Winsted, Conn., to her late husband, Martin B. Belden, and soon after moved to Ohio, settling in Amherst township. She shared, with her husband, bravey the hardships and privations of pioneer life. Eight children were born to them, four of whom are now living — one son and three daughters. Her life has been full of acts of kindness and charity, as oportunity presented. Surely may "her children rise up and call her blessed." Mrs. Belden was a former resident of this city, and will be remembered well by many of the older residents of Napoleon. She was the mother of Mrs, W. F. Balsley of this place and Mrs. Dr. Saur of Chicago, who have the sympathy of the community in the loss of a kind and affectionate mother. |
