Obituary: Obituary. Baker. On Thursday evening, Dec. 4, 1884, William Baker departed this life, aged 16 years, 9 months and 2 days. The deceased was a son of Jacob and Barbara Baker, and was a victim of that fell destroyer, consumption, with which be had for some time been afflicted. This afflicted family stood, mourners at the grave of an infant babe on March 25, 1881; and again the father and family stood, mourners at the grave of the mother, on March 8, 1883; and again on December 6, 1884, at the grave of a dear son, who has just passed away, and for whom they are now mourning. After a brief illness of but a few months, though young and dearly beloved by the companions of his youth, be was ready and willing to depart. With his kind, cheerful and pleasant manners he won the esteem and confidence of those with whom be associated, garnering about Him a large circle of friends in whose memory he still lives though the grave has hidden him from mortal view. On the day of his funeral, though it was raining hard, a large crowd gathered to witness the services and look for the last time on earth upon the form of one who now sleeps sweetly in the Florida cemetery, beside the infant babe and mother, to await the resurrection morn to he again united with loved ones on the evergreen shore. Sleep William, in the silent tomb, How sweet to think that on our eyes, J. W. |
