Henry County Genealogical Society Newsletter
Volume 7, Number 6, November-December 1993
MEETINGS
November 15, 1993, Monday, 6:30 pm
We will honor new members of First Families of Henry County (see inside) at our annual potluck dinner. Beverages and a cake for dessert will be provided. Please bring your own table service and a hot or cold dish. Diane Gagel will be our speaker and her topic will be “First Families of Ohio.”
December, 1993 NO MEETING
Happy Holidays!
1994 OFFICERS
Due to a lack of available replacements, the 1993 officers have retained their posts. Due to family obligations, overload and just plain burn-out, some of us wanted to give up our positions. If you would be willing to serve in any capacity, please let one of us know. WE CAN FIND A PLACE FOR YOU!!
NO NEW publications at this time. We have been busy reprinting several of the books we published before. Look for a new Ancestor Charts book in the spring.
THIS ISSUE – we begin publication of Henry Co. Birth Records taken from the records in the Probate Office of the Court House. NR=Not Reported. Keep in mind that handwriting from that era is difficult to read and misspellings occur frequently. Other errors are sometimes apparent, but the records are copied exactly. Researcher on this project is Karen Sunderman.
Please Note: the birth records are not reproduced here in the electronic version of the newsletter.

Would like to know if there was a connection between Leonard Weaver Sr. born ca. 1803 in VA and my gr-grandfather Oliver Weaver born 10 Sept 1850 in Fairfield Co., OH. Both were in Fairfield Co. in 1850 & 1860. Leonard Weaver and Oliver’s in-laws, Thomas C. Snyder, lived in Damascus Twp., Henry Co. in 1870. Oliver m. Phoebe Snyder 1879 in Henry Co. –Linda L. Knapp, Robinson, IL 62454
On my trip home from Henry Co. I stopped at Countryside Antiques, 2100 Bagley (US-27), Ithaca, MI 48847, to browse and rest. On the wall was a framed plaque from Henry County!! It read: “Norma Gilliland, born December 15, 1926, confirmed June 2, 1940, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.” It was for sale for $5.00.
