SURNAMES

    Each year our January issue contains a list of surnames being researched by our members and a membership list with addresses. However, for reasons of privacy, we do not include either list in this electronic version of the newsletter. For our members who receive a printed version: please let us know if you continue to find that helpful or if you would like to see our space utilized in a different way.

HENRY COUNTY HISTORY

    The Henry County Historical Society is planning a reprint of the 1976 Henry County History, Volume III. This will be available before Christmas at a cost of $55 per book. The binding will match the 1976 printing. Books may be picked up at the Henry County Historical Society Museum at Roads M and 7 in Grelton.

    ROSE, Charlotte Wiseman widow of Thomas J. ROSE, b Fairfield Co., OH 12 Jan 1838, dau of Lorenzo DOW & Frances S. (HOOPER) WISEMAN of Hancock Co., OH and m there Thos. J. ROSE in 1857. Had Mary & Frank W.

    ROWE, Frank b. Defiance Co., OH 1859, son of Adam & Catherine (HART) early settlers here from Germany. Had 14 ch. Catholics. Frank m Hattie HARPER. Had 4 ch.

    ROTHENBERGER, Frederick b. Wurtemburg, Ger. 1837, son of Jacob F. & Hannah (STUBER). Hannah d. in Ger. and Jacob came to Medina Co., OH ca 1841, then to Defiance Co. and then to Henry Co. They had Henry, Fred’k & Fredricka (Fribly). Frederick m. 1862 Eliza DeLONG, dau. of Elias & Matilda (DICKSON). Elias from PA and Matilda from Akron, OH. They had Lewis, Andrew, Joseph, Alex., David, Valentine, Julia (ROTHENBERGER), Catherine (wife of Jay SMITH), Elizabeth (WILLIAMSON) & Eliza. Frederick & Eliza (DeLONG) had John, Geo., Wm., Arthur, Jacob, Maggie, Mary, Bernard, Nellie & David F.

    RUSSELL, Millard Fillmore, son of William RUSSELL b York Co.,. Maine, 24 July 1807 who m Eliza A. INGRAHAM b NY state 13 June 1813. She descended from Elijah INGRAHAM who m Sarah IDE early in the 18th century. A dau. Remember (one of two named Remember & Comfort) m Zimrood BIENAT and had 10 ch of whom Agreen was the 5th. Agreen Crabtree INGRAHAM b in MA, 27 May 1787, m in Seneca Co., OH. Lydia MASON b 1808 in Windham Co., CN and had 9 ch, among them Eliza Jane who m Wm. RUSSELL. The RUSSELL family had Remember, Converse, Lydia, John Hollister, Wm. H., Clement B., Harriet A., Amelia, Joseph F., Melissa E. & Millard Fillmore. William was son of Simon & Polly (BATES) RUSSELL who went to NY state in 1817, then to Geauga Co., OH, then to MI, then to Henry County in 1845. Millard F. m Mary FOUTZ, dau of Simeon & Kate (NEFF). Kate NEFF dau of Abraham & Lovey (MILLIGAN) NEFF. Had Kate, Ray, Eliza, Winnifred. [Ed. note: I swear I did not make up the name Agreen Crabtree!]
