On November 21, 2016, we honored the 2016 First Families of Henry County at the Log Cabin Tavern, T464 County Road 3, Liberty Center, OH. The year’s honorees were Michael Dean Haake, Roger Alfred Haake, Mildred (Rohrs) Sigg, Daniel Henry Sigg, Mark David Sigg, Janet (Sigg) Meyer, Jane (Rohrs) Helberg, Robert Lawrence Rohrs, Carol (Rohrs) Speiser, David Ray Rohrs, and Karen (Rohrs) Mohler, all of whom trace their Henry County roots back to Friedrich Rohrs and Henry A. Rohrs, who came to the county in 1869.
It was a wonderful evening. Normally, our First Families dinners are accompanied by speeches and short presentations on the ancestor(s) of the honorees, but we were seated in the common area of the restaurant, and this precluded the speeches. The awardees rolled with the punches, and nobody went home unhappy or hungry.
