Benton Zollars was born in Coshocton county, Ohio, Sept. 15th, 1842. He passed into life Dec. 28th, 1911, aged 69 years, 3 months and 13 days. He was united in marriage April 23, 1865, to Miss Susie Brown. Five children, Frank, Walter, Wallace, Warren O. and Mrs. C. T. Chapman were born of their union. The last two with two sisters; Mrs. J. A. Ashcraft and Mrs. Sarah F. Lighthiser, and two brothers, John and Theodore, survive him. In his domestic relations he was most tender, considerate and affectionate. Thinking no evil, charitable in judgment, his entire life was an exemplification of the second great commandment, “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.” While in the latter part of his life he learned also the full meaning of the first great commandment, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul and with all thy mind.” Mr. Zollars was an exemplary citizen, a kind husband and an affectionate father, and had hosts of friends in Henry county. He was Infirmary Director for some time, and held several minor positions during his life in the county.
The funeral was held from the M. E. church in Liberty Center on last Sunday, Dec. 31st, 1911.
