William H. Young, 95, of Delta died Tuesday at The Toledo Hospital.
Born Feb. 20, 1913, in Henry County, he was the son of James and Maude (Taylor) Young. On Dec. 14, 1956, he married Dorothy Beavers, who survives.
A veteran of World War II, he served with the 1st Infantry in the U.S. Army, where he was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, the Spearhead, seven Bronze Battle Stars and the European Mediterranean Medal. He drove double tandem tankers for Pet Milk, worked at the former Marky Bronze in Delta and was a union carpenter in Toledo. He was a member of the Delta American Legion and V.F.W. and attended Trinity Lutheran Church of Delta.
He is also survived by a daughter, Willa Young of Columbus; a son, David (Ryoko) of Japan; three sisters, Ruby Balser of Delta and Thelma Beavers and Nancy (James) Mattin, both of Wauseon; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeri Jo Micks; two brothers, Marion and Roice; and a sister, Alice Russel.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 14 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pastor Eric Markovich officiating. Private graveside services will be held prior.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Delta American Legion.
