Philip Yarnell, son of Daniel and Barbara Yarnell, was born in Napoleon Township, Henry County, Ohio, January 3, 1858 and departed this life at his home in Napoleon, Ohio, on September 29, 1927 at the age of 79 years, 8 months and 28 days.
On May 18, 1880, he was united in marriage to Elma Sworden and to this union three children were born: Bertha Yarnell Mires, Lelah Yarnell Anspaugh and Murrell Yarnell, of Napoleon. Mrs. Mires and Mrs. Anspaugh have preceded him in death.
Prior to 1902 Mr. Yarnell engaged in farming. In 1902 he began service on the Rural Free Delivery Route. He was the second driver to go out from the Napoleon Post Office. About 20 years ago failing health compelled him to retire from the active service. During this period he has been a patient suffer.
Mr. Yarnell comes from a prominent Henry County family. His father was one of the early settlers of Henry County. His father served Henry County in the capacity of County Commissioner, County Auditor and County Treasurer.
Mr. Yarnell leaves to mourn his passing, his lifelong companion Mrs. Elma Yarnell, his son Murrell, one granddaughter, Mrs. Eugenia Gerken, two brothers, Dan of Napoleon and Harry of Napoleon; two sisters, Mrs. Cecelia Meyers of Wauseon and Mrs. William Stough of Bryan; also other relatives and many friends.
