John Albert Wright was born in Liberty township, near the Fulton county boundary, on April 4, 1859, and departed this life suddenly following a heart attack after a very short illness May 5, 1943, at the age of 84 years, 1 month and 2 days.
He was the son of John Wright and Lurena (Viers) Wright. He was married to Emily Crockett, who passed away Dec. 17, 1915, to which union there were six children: Hugh E., of Wichita, Kans.; Mrs. Margaret Krohn, at Bryan; Ivan W., of Texas, O.; Ray R. and Herbert C., of Eldorado, Kans.; and Mrs. Mary Krohn, of Fayette.
On Dec. 25, 1916, he was married to Miss Eva Emery, who survives him. There are also a brother, William M., of Cleveland; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren who survive.
Mr. Wright lived in Henry county most of his life, having taught school nearly 20 years, and was also a county school examiner for part of this time. He farmed for many years on the farm which his father entered from the government on 1844. He was active in the community, having served as secretary of the Liberty Center Mutual Telephone Co., as village clerk, and in various other capacities.
He was the oldest member of F. & A. M. lodge No. 518 at Liberty Center, having been a member for nearly 63 years.
Full Masonic services were held from the home on May 8 at 2 p.m., Rev. L. C. McCandlish, chaplain of Paci?c chapter No. 63, O. E. S., of which Mr. Wright was also a member, officiated. Interment was in Young’s cemetery here.
