Reuben H. Whitmire, 76, died Sunday afternoon in Detwiler Hospital following a long illness.
Born October 10, 1896, he was the son of Charles and Jenny (Schwanger) Whitmire. He lived his entire life in Henry and Fulton Counties as a farmer and milk hauler. At the time of his retirement he had been employed by the Ohio State Division of Forestry and was a member of the Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church near Liberty Center.
Surviving are his wife Ethel, Delta; daughter, Mrs. Annabell Hoffman, Maumee; son, Earl L., Delta; brother, Leroy, Delta; four sisters, Mrs Gladys Jacquot, Swanton, Mrs. Josephine Carpenter, Mrs. Sadie Kessler, and Mrs. Irene Baldwin, all of Liberty Center.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church near Liberty Center, with Reverend Robert Breese and Paul Bauders officiating. Interment will be in Young Cemetery. Friends may call at the Penrod Funeral Home, Wauseon, until Wednesday at noon.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Fulton County Cancer Unit or the Liberty Chapel Building Fund.
