Mahala Wagoner was born in Sandusky county, Ohio, July 26, 1844, and passed to her eternal home from Liberty Center, Ohio, February 19, 1914, in her 70th year.
She was joined in holy matrimony with Franklin Weirich on June 12, 1866, soon after he returned from the service of his country, a member of Company B 64th O. V. I. This union was blessed with nine children, three sons and six daughters, all of whom are married and were present at the funeral except one. The children are: Mrs. Mary E. Henricks, Mrs. Sarah E. Davis, Mrs. Susanna B. Poling, Mrs. Emma B. Kigar, Mrs, Jenny M. Shartzer, Mrs. Rella D. Crawford, James F., John A., and Fred R.
Mrs. Weirich was confirmed and received as a member of Saint John Reformed Church, Liberty Center, Ohio by the Rev. John H. Albright, February 7, 1909, and by her consistent Christian life enjoyed the entire confidence and esteem of her church and all who knew her.
It is the the testimony of the loved ones from whom she has departed that she was a devoted and patient wife, doing her full share of building the home and in the rearing of the large family of intelligent and appreciative children, who recognizes the sterling qualities, in the life and character of the truly model mother from whom they all inherit so much of quality and moral principle, which was entered into their lives and characters, making strong and enduring, the deeper and nobler purposes of life.
Mrs. Weirich exerted an influence for good in her social life, being a charter member of the W. R. C. and also a charter member of No. 258 Blanche Olive Temple Pythian Sisters.
She leaves, beside her husband, 9 children, 24 grandchildren [smudged] great-grandchildren, three brothers, three sisters, and a large number of dear friends to mourn her departure.
The funeral services were held at the Reformed church at Liberty Center, Ohio, Sunday afternoon February 22, the the pastor D. E. Martz officiating, interment in Young’s cemetery.
