Emory Woodward, 48, of 2517 Chase street, Toledo, son-in-law of Frank Fetterman of this place, dropped dead from a heart attack while he was hunting near here Monday morning. The fatal attack occurred while he was hunting pheasants along the D. T. & I. railroad one mile west of town.
Mr. Woodward and two companions, unidentified, had come up from Toledo early in the morning to hunt. They were working down the railroad right of way when Mr. Woodward flushed a bird and fired. According to the best available reports, he went down to retrieve the bird, and when he climbed back up the bank to the tracks, collapsed from a heart attack.
The two men with Mr. Woodward, seeing him fall, hastened to him, put him in the car and brought him to the office of Dr. D. J. George. The man was dead when his companions brought him to the office, Dr. George said.
Services are to be held at 2 p. m. on Friday afternoon at the home in Toledo. Interment will be made in Young's cemetery here.>/p>
Mr. Woodward is survived by his wife, the former Flossie Fetterman, one-time resident of Liberty Center.
Mr. Woodward's death was the first of the hunting season in this vicinity. A similar incident was reported from Whitehouse Saturday, when Raymond Harris, 43, also of Toledo, suffered a fatal collapse while he was hunting near there
