Royal A. VanPatten, 75, Route 1, Liberty Center, died Saturday evening in Toledo Hospital.
He was born December 25, 1901, in Binghamton, New York, the son of Gervace and Jane (Winston) VanPatten. On June 1, 1924, he married Mary Ellen Crawford, and she survives.
The deceased was a 1926 graduate of Ohio Northern University. He was a former resident of Dearborn, Michigan, where he was a research chemical engineer for Ford Motor Company for 35 years retiring in 1967.
Surviving besides his wife, are two daughters, Mrs. Elbert (Beverly) Kaiser, Charlevoix, Michigan, and Mrs. Laurence (Rhella) Burk, Minneapolis, Minnesota; one sister, Mrs. Joel (Beatrice) Payne, Rochester, New York; and six grandchildren.
Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Croll-Wright Funeral Home, Liberty Center. Reverend McCellan R. Nicholson will officiate.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. today (Monday).
Interment will be made in Young Cemetery, Liberty Center.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
