Funeral Services were held Tuesday afternoon, August 2, 1977 at the Croll Wright Funeral Home, Liberty Center for Royal A. Van Patten 75, of Rt. 1, Liberty Center, who died Saturday, July 30, at Toledo Hospital. He was formerly a resident of Dearborn Heights, Mich, moving to Liberty Center three years ago.
The deceased was born December 25, 1901 in Binghamton, New York, the son of Gervace and Jane Isabel (Winston) Van Patten.
On June 1,1924 he married Mary Ellen Crawford, and she survives.
The deceased was a Research and Chemical Engineer for 35 years at the Ford Motor Company, retiring in 1967. He graduated from Ohio Northern in 1926.
Other survivors besides his wife, Mary Ellen, are daughters: Mrs. Elbert (Beverly) Kaiser, Charlevoix, Mich., and Mrs. Laurence A. (Rhella) Burk, Minneapolis, Minn.; six grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Joel (Beatrice) Payne, Rochester, New York.
Rev. McClellan R. Nicholson, pastor of Liberty Center United Methodist Church officiated, with interment made in Young Cemetery.
