Obituary: Mary Ellen VanPatten July 11, 1906 - March 29, 2003 Mary Ellen VanPatten, 96, of Liberty Center died Saturday evening at Lady Lake Specialty Care Center, Lady Lake, Fla. Born July 11, 1906, in Liberty Center, she was the daughter of Charles and Rella (Weirich) Crawford. On June 1, 1924, she married Royal VanPatten, who preceded her in death July 30, 1977. She was a member of Liberty Center United Methodist Church and the Dearborn Garden Club, Dearborn, Mich. She is survived by a daughter, Beverly Kaiser of Charlevoix, Mich.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by daughter, Rhella Burk; two sisters, Ruth Desgrange and Evelyn Parker; and three brothers, Charles A., George and Robert Crawford. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Wright Funeral Home, Liberty Center, Pastor David MacDonald officiating. Interment will follow at Youngs Cemetery, Liberty Center. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home Thursday. The family suggests memorials be made to Liberty Center United Methodist Church.
