Ruby Eileen Travis, 86, of Toledo, passed away Saturday, October 31, at Harborside Health Care, Swanton.
She was born in Liberty Center, Ohio, November 23, 1911, the daughter of Emma (Rogge) and Charles Bortel. She was a 1929 graduate of Liberty Center High School.
She was married in 1949 to Arthur Travis of Grelton, Ohio, who preceded her in death in 1978.
She was also preceded in death by sisters, Gladys Bortel and Mabel Proudfoot, and twin brother, Robert Bortel.
She is survived by six nieces and nephews, Lucille Knisley of North Canton, Ohio, Dorothy Hendrickson of Norwalk, Shirley Rohrs of Liberty Center, Kay Smith of Columbus, and Robert Bortel of Liberty Center and nephew, Donald Proudfoot of Swanton. She is also survived by 35 great-nieces and nephews.
She was a lifelong homemaker and worked briefly for General Motors Powertrain Plant, Alexis Rd., Toledo. She was an avid golfer and was a member of Palometto Pines Country Club, Cape Coral, FL and Highland Meadows Golf Club, Sylvania.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Monday, November 2 at Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 Main St., Sylvania. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 3, with Pastor Charles Whitmire of Shiloh Christian Union Church, Delta officiating. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Youngs Cemetery, Liberty Center.
Memorials may be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
