Lura Travis, 85, Liberty Center, died early this morning at Defiance Hospital.
Born in Texas, Ohio, on Jan. 9, 1905, she was the daughter of Peter E. and Phoebe (Coch) Johnston. On March 19, 1927, she married Julian S. Travis, and he preceded her in death on May 22, 1978.
A retired bookkeeper with Liberty Lumber & Supply Co., she was a member of the Liberty Center United Methodist Church and its women’s group as well as the Henry County Chapter of AARP.
Surviving are a daughter, Judy Leininger of Liberty Center, a son, Bryce of Bryan; a sister, Edna Rigal of Liberty Center; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a brother, Peter Johnston; a sister, Florence Mowery; and a granddaughter, Debra Lynn Leininger.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday in the Wright Funeral Home, Liberty Center, Rev. William Ooff officiating. Interment will be in Youngs Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. on Saturday.
Memorials may be made to the church organ fund, Hospice of Henry County or The Lutheran Home at Napoleon.
