Funeral services for Julian S. (Jude) Travis, 71, of West Maple Street, Liberty Center, former owner of The Liberty Lumber & Supply Company were held at the Liberty Center United Methodist Church, Wednesday afternoon, May 24, 1978 with Reverend McClellan Nicholson officiating. He entered the Fulton County Health Center, Wauseon, early Sunday morning and died Monday morning, May 22, 1978.
Born July 14, 1906 in Napoleon township, he was the son of Franklin S. and Susan (Rausch) Travis. On March 19, 1927 he was united in marriage to Lura Johnston and she survives. The deceased operated the Liberty Lumber & Supply Company from 1938 until retirement in 1962. He was a member of the Liberty Center united Methodist Church and past council member, L.C. Lodge, 718 I.O.O.F. since 1938; L.C. Volunteer Fire Department since 1938, and was a member of village council for 8 yrs. He had been on the Liberty State Savings Bank Board of Directors since 1948 and was organizer and one of original directors of the L.C. Industrial Developmment, Inc.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Dale (Judy) Leininger, Liberty Center; Son, Bryce Travis, Bryan, seven grandchildren; one brother, Harry, N. Reddington Beach, Fla.; sister, Mrs. Harry (Rowena) Vogel, Napoleon; two brothers, Zeb and Clarence, two sisters, Audrey Dietrich and Mary and one granddaughter, Debra, preceeded him in death.
Odd Fellow Services were conducted Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. and following at 8:30 the Firefighters Service.
Interment was made in Youngs Cemetery with the Croll-Wright Funeral Home in Liberty Center in charge of the arrangements.
