Vance Thorn, 83, of Liberty Center died Saturday at his residence.
Born Nov. 27, 1911, he was the son of George and Irene (Brubaker) Thorn. On June 21, 1937, be married Elizabeth McMaster, who survives.
He was a farmer, a former carpenter/cook for B&O Railroad and then a nickel plater for S. K. Wayne Tool Co. in Defiance. He was also a member of Liberty Center United Methodist Church and of the The Gleaners.
He is also survived by his a daughter, Beverly Phillips of Liberty Center; a son, Vance of Liberty Center; two sisters, Edith Ireland of Findlay and Martha Lindhorst of Delta; five grandchildren: and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Opal Thorn.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Wright Funeral Home in Liberty Center, Rev. Martin Denes officiating. Interment will be at Youngs Cemetery in Liberty Center.
Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials be made to the church or to Henry County Hospice.
