Cecil Strock, 76, of Liberty Center died early this morning at his home.
Born in Van Wert County, Ohio, May 15, 1917, he was the son of Carl and Florence (Miller) Strock. On June 29, 1944, he married Louisa Mires, and she survives.
A farmer and produce grower and broker in his early years, he pursued his interest in harness horse racing by becoming an owner, trainer and driver in the late 1950s. His career spanned 36 years and he was presently racing his horses at Raceway Park in Toledo. He was a member of the Liberty Center Odd Fellows Lodge and the U.S. Trotting Association.
Also surviving are four sons, Leon and John, both of Liberty Center, David of Defiance and Jamie of Warrensville, Ohio; two daughters, Cecily Rohrs of Archbold and Charlotte Shrider of Napoleon; a sister, Maude Houts of Liberty Center; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Cletus.
Services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the Wright Funeral Home, Liberty Center, Rev. Gerald Lewis officiating. Interment will be at Youngs Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. on Thursday and after 2 p.m. on Friday.
