Melvin ‘Butch’ D. Strayer Aug. 22, 1935 - March 6, 2002
Melvin ‘Butch’ D. Strayer, 66, of Liberty Center died this morning at Northcrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Napoleon.
Born Aug. 22, 1935, in Neapolis, he was the son of Lawrence ‘John’ and Margaret (Conner) Strayer. On Aug. 19, 1961, he married Annette Burns, who survives.
He was a laborer at Multicast Foundry, Wauseon for 30 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Liberty Center Wesleyan Church, a U.S. Marine veteran of Korea and Alva N. Sidle Post #232 American Legion, Grand Rapids.
He is also survived by a daughter, Loretta Peabody of Liberty Center; two sons, Jeff of Toledo and Craig of Swanton; three sisters, Virginia Myers of Neapolis, Sue Jenkins of McClure and Linda Creps of Delta; and four grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Wright Funeral Home, Liberty Center, Pastor Jerry Steen officiating. Interment will be at Youngs Cemetery, Liberty Center, where military honors will be accorded by the American Legion.
