Mrs. Sevilla Sargent Spiess, wife of J. H. Spiess, died at her late country home, on February 7, 1907. She had been afflicted a month with a complication of diseases.
Mrs. Spiess was born in the state of Pennsylvania, August 7, 1851.
In her infancy she came with her parents to this state and settled near Wooster. When she was 15 years old her parents moved to Wood County, near Toledo. She was united in marriage with J. H. Spiess, November 6, 1873. To this union eleven children were born, nine sons and two daughters.
The family moved to this county in 1892, and those who learned to know Mrs. Spiess best appreciated her most, for she was not only a faithful companion and an indulgent mother, but a good neighbor and true friend. She became a Christian in her youth and at the time of her death was a faithful member of the Liberty Chapel U. B. Church.
Her funeral was held from her home church Sunday morning at 10 o'clock, conducted by Rev. W. D. Bishop, of Delta, internment in Young's Cemetery.
The high esteem in which Mrs. Spiess was held by her friends was evident in the large number present at the funeral service and the beautiful floral offerings.
Appropriate music was furnished by the Liberty Chapel choir.
