Clyde ‘Obie”’ Spiess, 85, Liberty Center, died early this morning at Henry County Hospital.
Born in Liberty Center Dec. 27, 1905, he was the son of Lewis and Blanch (Miller) Spiess. On July 14, 1931, he married Lola Davis, and she survives.
He had been the manager of the former Liberty Center Food Locker until his retirement in 1965. Spiess was a former member of the Liberty Center Volunteer Fire Department and had served 25 years as a member of the Henry County Fair Board.
Also surviving are a daughter, Louise Vandenberghe of Napoleon; a son, Terry of Wooster, Ohio; two sisters, Luella Palmer of Kenton, Ohio, and Mary Emsberger of Liberty Center; two brothers, Lloyd “Tam” of Napoleon and Lewis “Bud” of Liberty Center; 10 grand-children; and 14 greatgrandchildren.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the Wright Funeral Home of Liberty Center. Interment will be in Youngs Cemetery, Liberty Center.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. on Saturday.
