Homer G. Spiess, 74, Liberty Center, died Monday afternoon in Fulton County Health Center, Wauseon.
Born February 23, 1904, in Fulton County, he was the son of Lewis and Blanche (Miller) Spiess.
The deceased was self-employed as a sheep shearer.
He was united in marriage on August 29, 1923, to Myrtle Braucher, and she died February 7, 1960. He then married Sophia Shuman Hoffman on February 27, 1961, and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ervin (Betty) Myers and Mrs. Clarence (Earlene) Sager, both of Liberty Center; three sons, Burdette (Red), Royce (Spud) and Earl (Tuff), all of Liberty Center; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Earl (Fay) Lashaway, Pioneer; one stepson, Elmer Hoffman, Liberty Center; four brothers, Dewey, Clyde, Lloyd and Lewis, all of Liberty Center; four sisters, Mrs. Lucy Willis and Mrs. Earl (Mary) Ernsberger, both of Liberty Center, Mrs. Albert (Doris) Bargman, Napoleon, and Mrs. Luella Palmer, Montpelier; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Carlton, two brothers, Dale and Wilbur, and five infant brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at the Croll-Wright Funeral Home, Liberty Center, on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend John Schull officiating. Burial will be in Youngs Cemetery, Liberty Center.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday after 7 p.m. and all day on Wednesday.
