Obituary:
Dewey J. Spiess, 85, of rural Liberty Center, died Monday evening at Henry County Hospital.
Born May 28, 1898, in Fulton County, he was the son of Lewis and Blanch (Miller) Spiess. He married Eva M. Richards on December 24, 1928, and she survives.
A farmer who retired in 1950, Mr. Spiess was a member of Shiloh Christian Union Church, Delta.
Surviving, besides his wife, are three sons, Marvin, of Wauseon; Gareld, Liberty Center, and Arlo, of El Macero, California; five daughters, Mrs. Bill (Josephine) Beck, of Fremont, Indiana; Mrs. Marvin (Lila) Trask, Nampa, Idaho, and Mrs. Richard (Treva) Stevens, Mrs. Harold (Ula) Kessler and Mrs. Maurice (Arvis) Weaks, all of Liberty Center; three brothers, Clyde and Lewis, Jr., both of Liberty Center, and Lloyd, of the State of Florida; four sisters, Lucy Willis and Mrs. Earl (Mary) Emsberger, both of Liberty Center; Mrs. Hugo (Doris) Panning, Napoleon, and Mrs. Luella Palmer, Montpelier; 32 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday, 2 p.m., at Shiloh Christian Union Church. Pastor David Brown will officiate, and burial will be in Youngs Cemetery, Liberty Center.
Friends may call at Croll-Wright Funeral Home, Liberty Center, after 7 p.m. tonight or Wednesday afternoon and evening, or at the church from noon to 2 p.m. on Thursday. The family suggests any memorials be made to the Shiloh Church Building Fund.
