Burdette 'Red' Spiess, 67, of Liberty Center died Saturday at his winter home in Sebring, Fla.
Born March 27, 1926, in Liberty Center be was the son of Homer and Myrtle (Braucher) Spiess. On June 29, 1947, be married Elnora Heckman, who survives.
He worked as a foreman for the Henry County Highway Department before retiring in 1983 and was a member of the Liberty Center Volunteer Fire Department, where be once served as chief.
Also surviving are a son, Rick of Liberty Center; a sister, Earlene Sager of Liberty Center; and two brothers, Royce and Earl, both of Liberty Center.
Preceding him in death was a sister, Betty Myers.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Wright Funeral Home in Liberty Center, Rev. Donald Merillat officiating. Interment will follow at Youngs Cemetery in Liberty Center.
Friends may call after 7 p.m. Tuesday and after 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where a fireman's service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials may be made to the Henry County Chapter of the American Heart Association.
