Pearle M. Slee-Spiess Aug. 30, 1914 - Feb. 16, 2002
Pearle M. Slee-Spiess, 87, of Liberty Center died Saturday evening at the Lutheran Home at Napoleon.
Born Aug. 30, 1914, in Hoytville, she was the daughter of Demas and Rena Belle (Otto) Ferguson. On April 20, 1935, she married Homer W. Slee, who preceded her in death Oct. 16, 1966. On Dec. 27, 1968, she married Wilbur ‘Mike’ M. Spiess, who preceded her in death May 14, 1978.
She was a cook at Liberty Center Schools for 25 years. She was a member of the Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church, Liberty Center, a member and past Noble Grand of Union Rebekah Lodge #273, Liberty Center, Ladies Auxiliary of Patriarchs Militant where she earned the Degree of Chivalry and a member of the Pythian Sisters.
She is survived by a son, Danny Slee of Las Vegas; a daughter, Linda Helmke of Napoleon; a step son, Larry Spiess of Napoleon; a step daughter, Joan Rivers of Toledo; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son David Slee; five sisters, Fraulene Ferguson, Dorothy Kern, Georgia Ohlinger, Ruth Creps and Ruby Bechstein; and two brothers, Warren and Robert Ferguson.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Wright Funeral Home, Liberty Center, Pastor Jim Condrey officiating. Interment will be at Youngs Cemetery, Liberty Center.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
