Mrs. Cora Smith, 51, died at her home, 2310 Cherry street, Friday noon.
She was the wife of John H. Smith, proprietor of the Merchants’ Hotel. Death resulted from pneumonia, contracted while in a weakened condition resulting from two recent operations. Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, two sons, Bruce and Grover Smith; three daughters, Mrs. R. H. Shiry of Liberty Center, and the Misses Floss and Goldie Smith, of Toledo, one sister, Miss May Foncanon, also of Toledo.
Funeral services were held in the residence Sunday morning at 9, conducted by Rev. G. A. Bierdemann, pastor of St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran church. The body was taken to Liberty Center, Mrs. Smith’s old home, for interment.
Mrs. Smith was born and raised in Liberty Center, here she was married to John H. Smith, and here the family was born and raised. The family resided here until about ten or twelve years ago when they moved to Toledo where Mr. Smith had engaged in the hotel business.
Mrs. Smith had many very warm friends in Liberty Center. She was a devoted wife and mother, a thorough home-woman, a good neighbor and loyal friend.
The remains were laid to rest in Young’s cemetery beside her mother, the ceremony at the grave being conducted by Rev. D. E Martz, of the Reformed church, of which Mrs. Smith Was a member up until the time of moving to Toledo.
