Fay E. Slater, 85, died Sunday in Gathersburg, Maryland, where he was a resident. Mr. Slater was a resident of Toledo until 1930, and his family had lived in the Liberty Center area.
Born in Toledo, September 28, 1895, he was the son ot George and Hattie (Overmier) Slater. On October 23, 1919, he married Marion A. Glenn, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, James, Berea; a daughter, Mrs. James (Carol) Barie, Bethesda, Maryland; and three grandchildren.
Mr. Slater was a retired government employee and an army veteran of World War I. He was a member of Dean Horton American Legion Post #108, Toledo, a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Lotus Masonic Lodge, Toledo.
Graveside services will be conducted Friday, 1 p.m., at Young Cemetery, Liberty Center, by the Reverend Thomas Hanover. Visitation will be at Croll-Wright Funeral Home, Liberty Center, from noon until 1 p.m. Friday.
