Mrs. Clara Shoemaker, 86, died Friday in the Stevens convalescent home in Delta. She had been in poor health for many years.
She was the widow of George Shoemaker and was a lifelong resident of Henry county.
Surviving’ are daughters, Mrs, Edith Carpenter, Toledo, and Mrs. Maude Heckler, Liberty Center; sons, Leonard William and Lawrence, Liberty Center; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sunday afternoon in Victory Chapel church, with burial in Young's cemetery.

Mrs. Clara Shoemaker, daughter of William and Catherine Foster Pontious, was born Dec. 22, 1865, in Liberty township, Henry county, O., and departed this life Friday, Jan. 25, 1952, at the Stevens convalescent home In Delta, O. at the age of 86 years, 1 month and 8 days.
She was married to George W. Shoemaker on June 9, 1888. To this union were born five children, three sons and two daughters. Her husband preceded her in death on June 14, 1921. Also two grandchildren, Wayne Heckler and Esther Shoemaker.
She gave her heart to the Lord and became a member of the United Brethren church when but a child, and remained a faithful member until God called her to her heavenly home. She was very active in church work, was a member of Victory Missionary society until her health failed.
She was a very patient sufferer, a kind and loving mother, helpful neighbor, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her five children, Mrs. Edith Carpenter, of Toledo; Leonard, William, Mrs. Maude Heckler, and Lawrence, all of Liberty Center; 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Orpha Pontious, of Toledo; one brother, Israel Pontious, of Columbus, O., and many other relatives and friends.
Services were conducted by Rev. A. J. Steinke, assisted by Rev. Charles Rex, at Victory Chapel church. Interment was made in Young’s cemetery.
