Helen M. Shockey-Leopard May 2, 1918 - March 16, 2005
Helen Mae Shockey-Leopard, 86, of Orange City, Fla., and formerly of Liberty Center, died Wednesday at Fish Memorial Hospital, Orange City.
Born May 2, 1918, in Hamilton, Ohio, she was the daughter of Beryl and Hattie (Glover) Watson. She was married to Walter Shockey, who preceded her in death. She then married Jack Leopard, who survives.
A graduate of Miami University, Oxford, she was an elementary school teacher at Hamilton Local Schools from 1937-1941 and Liberty Center Elementary School from 1960-1982. She was a member of Liberty Center United Methodist Church and tutored adults in Florida.
She is also survived by two daughters, JoAnn Davis of Swanton and Linda Gardner of Coshocton, Ohio; three sons, Walter "Jim" Shockey of Orlando, Fla., Robert Shockey of Liberty Center and William (Pattie) Shockey of Beaufort, S.C.; two step daughters, Rebecca Leopard of Ocala, Fla., and Connie (Dennis) Rueger of Manselona, Mich.; two step sons, Robert (Annette) Leopard of Palmyra, N.Y., and Tom Leopard of Miami, Fla; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ben and William Watson.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Liberty Center United Methodist Church, Pastor David MacDonald officiating. Interment will be at Youngs Cemetery, Liberty Center.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Liberty Center Public Library.
