Vernard (Chick) Shock, 74, 100 East St., died at 10 p.m. Monday in Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne.
He was born Jan. 25, 1911, in Defiance County, the son of John C. and Nora (Wolff) Shock. In 1929, he married Lula Davis, who survives. A lifetime Defiance County resident, he retired in 1975 as a tool and die maker at the former All Star Products. He was a lifetime member of Defiance Eagles Lodge.
Surviving are one son, Roger E., 87 Calvin St.; one daughter, Mrs. Ron (Deborah) King, 712 Emblanche Drive; two granddaughters; and one sister, Mrs. Bessie Keller, 604 Euclid St.
Preceding him in death were his parents; four brothers, Kenneth, Paul, John and Robert Sr.; and one sister, Mrs. Pearl Young.
Services will be at 10 a m. Friday in Mast and Mock Funeral Home. Rev. George Khoury will officiate. Burial will be in Young Cemetery, Liberty Center. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday.
