Wayne Sharp, 73, of Liberty Center died Sunday evening at Henry County Hospital of Napoleon.
Born May 24, 1927, in Colton, he was the son of Earl and Chloe (Shonk) Sharp. On Jan. 25, 1947, he married Alice Merrill, who survives.
He was a mechanic for 29 years with the Ohio Department of Transportation in Napoleon, retiring in 1985. He was a retired member of the Liberty Center Volunteer Fire Department and was also a former equipment captain. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He is also survived by a son, Donald of Liberty Center; three daughters, Connie Hartman of Archbold, Sharon Conrad of Liberty Center and Tanya Hitt of Defiance; a sister, Eva Reed of McClure; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Luella Mohler, Bonnie Taylor and Leona Sharp; and three half-brothers, Cloyce Biggins and Ray and Roy Sharp.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Wright Funeral Home of Liberty Center, Rev. Martin Denes officiating. Interment will be at Youngs Cemetery of Liberty Center, where military honors will be accorded by the Liberty Center American Legion and V.F.W.
Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where a Henry County Firefighters Service will be held at 7 p.m.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Liberty Center Volunteer Fire Department.
