David Clark Scribner, son of Edward and Lucinda Scribner, was born in Washington township, in Henry County, Ohio, Dec. 4, 1844, and departed this life at his home at Liberty Center, O., Jan. 26, 1916, aged 71 years, 1 month, 22 days.
Deceased was united in marriage with Miss Nellie May Austin in 1873, and to this union were born three sons.
Mr. Scribner was engaged in the mercantile business in Liberty Center and also in the state of Missouri for some time, and settled on his farm in Washington township, this county, in 1875, removing later to his late residence in Liberty Center.
Deceased was converted under the labors of Rev. W. U. Spencer and united with the Liberty Center Methodist Episcopal Church of which he remained a member until he was called to the church above. In the years of his health he was active in church work and was in official relation, serving for some time as a steward. When on the farm his home was a home for the itinerant ministers and abundant in its hospitality. He was an affectionate husband, an indulgent father, a kind neighbor and respected citizen. He leaves to mourn their loss, wife and three sons, Frank L., Harry C., and Ralph C., and two granddaughters, all of whom reside in Liberty Center, one sister and a host of friends and relatives who will greatly miss him.
Funeral services were held at the late residence Friday afternoon, January 28, 1916, the Rev. J. C. Crider officiating. Interment in Young's cemetery.
