Leona M. Saneholtz April 21, 1909 - Feb. 28, 2008

Leona M. Saneholtz, 98, a longtime resident of Liberty Township, passed away Thursday afternoon, Feb. 28, 2008, at Country View Haven, Napoleon, where she was a resident.

Born in Washington Township on April 21, 1909, Leona was the daughter of the late A. Lincoln and Christina (Eichner) Barlow. She married Donald E. Saneholtz on Oct. 16, 1927. Both attended Liberty Center High School and spent their entire 70 years of married life at the family farm on Road T. Donald passed away April 14, 1998.

Survivors include daughters, Melba Patsy Leatherman, Napoleon, and Elnora Bechtol, Findlay; sons, Dr. William Saneholtz, Columbus, Milton Saneholtz, Toledo, and Phil (Linda) Saneholtz, Maineville; 12 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

One son, Burdette Saneholtz, preceded her in death on March 15, 2003, as did her granddaughter, Beverly Speiser, on Feb. 6, 2004.

She was also preceded in death by brothers, Irvin, John, Ernest and Edward Barlow; and sisters, Gertrude Greisinger and Ada Gerken.

Leona’s many activities as a farm wife and homemaker centered around family and friends. She was an involved member of Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church and Ladies Aid group. She and Donald were life-long members of the Henry County Farm Bureau and were 4-H leaders.

She was a member of the Liberty Center Garden Club since 1977 and was honored with a state award as an amateur gardener from the Ohio Association of Gardens Clubs in August 1982.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2008, at Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Condrey presiding. Burial will follow at Youngs Cemetery, Liberty Center. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-8 p.m. in the Wright Funeral Home, Liberty Center.
