Emma Bartels Sandman April 16, 1901 - Jan. 11, 1994
Emma Sandman, 92, of Liberty Center died Tuesday at The Lutheran Home in Napoleon.
Born April 16, 1901, in Marion Township, Henry County, she was the daughter of August and Emma (Mohrman) Kolbe. In 1921 she married Otto Bartels, who preceded her in death. She then married Raymond Sandman in 1947, and he preceded her in death in 1982.
She farmed and operated Bartels' Cafe in Liberty Center and was member of Liberty Center's St. Paul Lutheran Church and American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by a son, Robert Bartels of Liberty Center; a stepdaughter; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a son, Walter Bartels; and a great-granddaughter, Dana Lynn Hefflinger.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Liberty Center, Rev. William Thompson officiating.
