Wilber D. Russell, 92, Liberty Center, died Tuesday morning in Northcrest Nursing Home, Napoleon.
He was born in Liberty Center on February 24, 1887, to Charles and Elizabeth (Kelley) Russell. On December 7, 1910, he married Chloe Smith, and she died June 6, 1954.
For over 60 years he bought furs and for many years beef hides and wool. A farmer and broom maker, he also worked in a sauerkraut factory in Liberty Center and a pickle factory in Braley.
The deceased was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Napoleon and occasionally taught Sunday School at the Methodist Church in Liberty Center.
Surviving are two sons, Warren L., Van Wert, and Melvin D., Oxford, Maine; a daughter, Mrs. Watt (Lucille) Jones, Liberty Center; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Croll-Wright Funeral Home, Liberty Center, the Reverend Doug Griffin officiating. Interment will be in Young’s Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Wednesday and all day Thursday.
