Leonidas T. Rohrer was born October 29, 1835, and died at his home in Liberty Center, O., Sept. 23, 1901, aged 74 years, 10 months and 23 days. He was married to Eva Gruber (Oct. 1, 1866 and to them were born two children, one son and one daughter, both of whom preceded the father to the world beyond. The wife, three r brothers and three sinters remain to mourn their loss.
Mr. Rohrer was a veteran of the civil war, having served through the entire struggle. He was in Company I of the 1st Maryland Potomac Home Brigade, and was in the battle of Gettysburg. At the close of the war he came to Ohio and followed the occupation of milling for a number of years. Later he turned his attention to farming, and a few years ago he retired and moved to Liberty Center.
Funeral services were held at the reformed church Sunday, Sept. 25th, and the body laid to rest in Young’s cemetery.
The respect in which Mr. Rohrer was held by the community in which he had resided the better part of his life, was attested by the large concourse of people who gathered to pay their last respects to the man who was gone from among them. The deceased was for years a member of the I. O. O. F. Lodge at Texas, O., but a few years ago he transferred his membership to the Liberty Center lodge. The lodge attended the funeral in a body and the bearers were chosen from that order.
For nearly forty-four years Mr. and Mrs. Rohrer had traveled the pathway of life together, from the midforenoon of life down to the falling of the shadows, through sickness and health, joy and sorrow, these two were all in all to each other. Those who have known them long, this deceased man and this bereaved woman, say that never a cross or complaining word passed between them. What better record can a man leave?
