Eva Gruber Rohrer was born in Sandusky county, O., near Fremont, and was confirmed in the Lutheran church in 1857. When a girl of about 16 she moved with her parents to a farm near Liberty Center. She was united in marriage with Leonidas T. Rohrer Oct. 4, 1866. Two children were born of this union, both preceding her in death. She departed this life at Toledo, O.. Dec. 29, 1932, at the age of 89 years, 8 months and 3 days.
Funeral services were held at her late home in Liberty Center Thursday morning, Dec. 31, the pastor of the Presbyterian church in Delta officiating. Interment was made in Young's cemetery.
’Aunt Eva,’ as she was lovingly called by all who knew her, was a grand woman. She and her husband, Leonidas T., better known as ‘Thornt,’ were pioneers of this community and both were held in the highest respect. Mr. Rohrer was a Civil war veteran and for years they owned a farm southeast of town. Previous to the death of Mr. Rohrer, which occurred many years ago, they moved to Liberty Center, where Mr. Rohrer died. After his death Aunt Eva lived on in the home on East Maple avenue but, for the past several years she had been making her home with her niece, Mrs. Jacob Ohler, of Toledo, during the winter. At the Ohler home Aunt Eva received the greatest of kindness and attention. As spring approached Aunt Eva longed for her old home, and as soon as the weather became settled she was brought back to spend the summer months, a companion being employed to stay with her.
It was at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ohier that Aunt Eva died, a few weeks after being taken to Toledo for the winter.
