Funeral Services were held Monday afternoon, Oct. 24, 1977 at the Wesley United Methodist in Bryan for Hazel W. Rogge, 72, of 515 Parkview Ave., Bryan, who died Thursday, Oct. 20, 1977 in Flower Hospital Sylvania, following an illness of several months.
An elementary school teacher, Mrs. Rogge taught eight years in Napoleon City and rural schools before going to Bryan, where she instructed third grade students at the former Park school and later at Washington School from 1944 until her retirement in 1969.
The daughter of William H. and Charlotte (Sworden) Frysinger, she was born Nov. 10, 1904 in Liberty Township near Napoleon, and was graduated from Napoleon High School. The deceased attended Ohio Northern University and was awarded a BS degree from Bowling Green State University.
Her religious affiliation was with Wesley United Methodist Church, where she had served as superintendent of the Junior Department, director several years of the junior choir and Vacation Bible School, and teacher of school classes 25 years. She was also a board member of Church Women United Thrift Shop, participating actively in sales and finances of the organization.
Also she was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, society of women educators, having held offices at both local and state levels, 33 year member of Fortnightly Study Club, held membership in Bryan chapter Order of Eastern Stars, and had taken part in numerous civic and educational projects of the community.
She was married to Howard W. Rogge, former superintendent of Bryan City Schools who survives along with a son, William H. Rogge, Toledo; a daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Rebecca) Burns, Columbus; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Dunbar, Napoleon, and Mrs. Bryan (Garnette) Saul, Liberty Center; and four grandchildren.
The Rev. Ramond K. Beals, pastor of the Wesley United Methodist Church officiated with interment at Young Cemetery, Liberty Center.
Greenisen & Tilton Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
